by KaraMay (Author)

Synopsis

Moving and magical adventure story, set in a far-off mountainous region inhabited by the Yeti. An imaginative novel for 8 -- 12 year-olds from an award winning author. Fenn survives a plane crash in which his parents die. Sent to live with a geologist aunt in a distant, mountainous part of the world, he wanders off and has a fall. Recued by Arkon, a Yeti, and taken to the Yeti kingdom, Fenn recovers and learns to live a gentle, Yeti life. Some of the Yeti are against Fenn staying in their kingdom since humans have always sought to destroy them. Fenn is determined to win their confidence and remain with the Yeti living a harmonious existence. Kara May has created a fascinating and magical Yeti world; the Yetis whistle to communicate; they record 'Happenings' -- major events in their lives, through stone carvings; they develop 'Knowings' which help them know right from wrong; they are a simple and loving community who live from nature. Through them, Fenn learns to be less bitter about his parents' death. Through Fenn, the Yeti survive when a fatal disease -- not sufferred by humans -- threatens to make them extinct. Wonderfully descriptive and imaginative writing that confident readers from 8 and upwards will be enthralled by.
