by RichardTaylor (Author)

Synopsis

The Watercolourist's Year, superbly illustrated with Richard Taylor's attractive paintings, is an inspirational guide to painting different watercolour subjects throughout the year, using appropriate seasonal colour palettes. The book is divided into four sections, each covering a season, and within each section there are several strands which focus on a particular colour palette -- the fresh greens and blues of spring, the warm reds and oranges of summer, the rich earth colours of autumn and the cool neutral tones of winter. Each seasonal section includes: Seasonal palette -- the key colours for the season in question and examples of how to use them Seasonal sketchbook -- annotated sketches and drawings with a specific theme Techniques -- practical advice on watercolour methods and skills Table-top study -- ideas for painting an indoor still life, with guidelines on composition Outdoor study -- ideas for painting outside, linked to the demonstration painting that follows Demonstration -- step-by-step instructions for painting a seasonal landscape
