Synopsis

The Ratz is based on the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, but places the same dilemmas in a more contemporary context. Through role-play and the suggested improvisations, the actors develop the characters and the action of every scene in the play. Script and extension materials can be used as a lead-in to workshops in drama Ideas and scenes are built into the text so that workshops and groups can work towards a production of the play

Author Bio
Simon Adorian (author of the playscript) is Acting Headteacher at St Osmund's Middle School, Dorchester. From September 1998 he will be Dorset LEA Literacy Consultant. He is also the author of the successful plays The Ratz and Trojans. Sue Cottam (author of the resources) is Co-ordinator of Creative and Performing Arts at St Osmund's Middle School, Dorchester.
