Synopsis

It is 1953, Coronation year, and Sally finds herself having to stay with her crabby old nextdoor neighbour. Her mum's seriously ill in hospital, her dad's abroad, and her brother is doing his National Service, and when the grandfather clock breaks into a million pieces, her life goes terribly wrong...AMBER'S SECRET is the story of a young girl's struggle to mend her mother's favourite grandfather clock -- if she can't mend it, she believes her mother won't get better. Her gypsy friend, Amber, has told her a secret which Sally is determined to use to help against seemingly impossible odds. The people she meets and the friends she makes -- especially with the wonderful old man, Charlie, the clock maker -- will engage every child's imagination, and Sally's conviction that her mother will die if she can't get the clock mended, keep one turning the pages of this delightful story to the very end.
