J.K. Rowling

Joanna Rowling, known as J. K. Rowling and Robert Galbraith, is a British screenwriter and film producer. The Harry Potter series has become the best-selling book series in history and the second highest grossing film series of all time (Marvel being first). Rowling first had the idea for Harry Potter in 1990 while on a delayed train from Manchester to London. The first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was then published in 1997. The sixth and last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was published in 2007. After this, Rowling went on to write crime fiction books for adult readers under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, the first of which named The Casual Vacancy in 2012. Rowling has accumulated many awards during her writing career, honorary degrees from numerous universities and has been awarded an OBE for her services to Children’s literature.
