George R. R. Martin

George R.R. Martin is an American novelist best known for his A Song of Ice and Fire series, which has gone on to become one of the most popular TV series of all time – A Game of Thrones. Martin began writing the series in 1991 and published the first book in 1996. The most recent book, A Dance with Dragons, was published in 2011 and took Martin 5 years to write. There are 2 more books expected to be released for the series. Martin has also written science fiction and horror short stories and numerous scripts for television.
