Chez Moi (First French)

Chez Moi (First French)

by VeroniqueBennet (Author)

Synopsis

Introduce your child to French in the same way as a French child would be - by exposure to commonly used words and phrases and attractive picture books - from an early age. This book has lots of bright photographs of children doing familiar activities in everyday situations around the home to help children to readily identify with and respond to the situations and the language. Almost incidentally, they will build up their knowledge of commonly used French words and phrases. Each page has a simple theme or story-line, always with high-frequency words and phrases that make up a solid foundation of French literacy and comprehension. Key words on each page are highlighted and translated in panels for easy access, and there are pronunciation and grammar guides for parents, question and answer games, and an illustrated dictionary. Reward certificates (in French) provide an extra incentive for young Francophiles. The younger the child, the easier it is to learn and to be confident in speaking and understanding a foreign language. Children should be able to gain confidence in a second language at this vital stage in their life. If you catch them early enough, they will enjoy practising what they have learned when they go on holiday, and have a head start when they start formal French lessons at secondary school.

Author Bio
Veronique Leroy-Bennett is a native of Brussels, Belgium, who started her career in marketing for the children's market after graduation. In 1996, she moved to the UK and began teaching French to young English children. Veronique now runs several French classes for primary-level children, and she has also set up a 'French Gym Club' for pre-school children. In this club, traditional gym activities are presented in a way that teaches basic French words and numbers to the very young. Veronique is also the mother of three young children.
